Can last year’s fastest beer-drinking record be surpassed, or will our friends from the multi-media be as good as their last story?
This and more will be known as scribes, broadcasters, and bloggers push their limits beyond the newsroom and the internet to drum up San Miguel Brewery, Inc.’s 11th edition of the National Beer Drinking Competition (NBDC).
At least eight five-member teams will gulp their night away in trying to beat last year’s record and win more than one hundred thousand pesos worth of cash and San Miguel items, plus the bragging rights of being the fastest, meanest beer drinker in the world of multimedia.
As the beer-drinking fest enters into another decade, a category has been added that aims at looking for the best individual beer-drinking time.
In Manila, the event showcased local music artists, fun activities, and a chance to interact with some of the country’s hottest San Miguel Beermen and other PBA personalities.
Last year’s winning team composed of beermen Jonas Villanueva, Chris Calaguio, Philippine Daily Inquirer’s Teddyvic Melendres and Marc Reyes, and Philippine Star’s Abac Cordero ruled the beer-drinking platform clocking one minute and 33 seconds.
The 2nd media edition officially kicks-off the country’s biggest beer-drinking contest being organized by San Miguel Brewery, Inc., the market leader that celebrates 120 Years of brewing excellence.
This year’s media edition will likewise be staged in major cities nationwide starting in Iloilo City on August 9, Cebu City (August 10), Davao City (August 27), and Cagayan de Oro City (August 28) where the top three fastest beer drinking groups will accordingly win P30,000, P25,000, and P20,000.
For Cagayan, queries and registration may be coursed through Meggy L. Macion with telephone number 09177221397 and Ms. Edith Isidro of PIA. Registration is now on-going.
On the 11th year of staging the most prestigious beer drinking contest in the country, more than P2 Million worth of cash and San Miguel Beer promotional items await the winning teams. It kicks off with the media edition, followed by the SMG-wide employee version. The NBDC will culminate with the staging of the Consumer Edition late this year that engages at least 300,000 beer drinkers annually.
Try-outs are now on-going until October 31, 2010. For more details, call (02) 632-2337 (BEER) or text 0922-632-2337and log on to www.smbtakesyoutothephilippines.com
