I just spent my New Year 2012 at home with my mother, brother and sister and his husband only the four of us and brought home Calda Pizza from Matina Town Square branch a dozen of 1.5 liters of soft drinks; Coke Regular, Royal True Orange, Coke Zero and Sprite from Convenience Store of the same.

As usual my mom prepared all time New Year’s favorite – Chicken Sopas cooked and made from shredded native chicken meat strips, hard boiled eggs, celery, evaporated mild or fresh milk. It’s best served when cooked in slow fire – the chicken meat came off easily from the bones – yummy Mom!

Next, mom also prepared some spaghetti and I did the white sauce toppings – I know how to cook food too

As of April 02, 2011, we were having a get together with friends at the dorm from where I’m staying, I went to Piapi Public Market at Boulevard Davao City to buy some medium size tomatoes to prepare Seafood Imbao Soup ala home style cooking with a homey feeling [clam soup] with the help of cooking mentor Yvette Ann Flores.

We had all the ingredients all lined-up:
1 kilo Imbao Shells cleaned.
2 pieces tomatoes cut in halves.
1 onion leaves  cut in 1 1/2 inches in length.
2 pieces lemon grass tied and knotted.
1 piece ginger skinned, sliced diagonally.
1 onion bulb, skinned, sliced.

Boil 6 mugs of water in a pot, as I was about to throw in the ingredients, Yvette told me to drop one by one by order – tomatoes, ginger, onion bulb sliced, onion leaves, 1 lemon grass, and cover the pot for a minute.

After a minute, open the pot put in the Imbao Shells, add 1 1/2 tablespoons of salt of your choice whether rock or iodized salt to taste, put in the remaining lemon grass, slow down the gas stove flame, bring it to simmer for 30 seconds and serve [the term use in cooking imbao soup is pakuratan - because shell foods seem to cook easily when heated a little, somewhat similar to poaching]

Serves 4 persons.

Note: overcooking Imbao Shell Soup for more than 30 seconds leaves the shell open and the meat jumps off. Imbao Shell maybe be semi closed and intact – you don’t want to eat the hard shell when serving right? I.m just kidding..

I went gaga over these. It was some sort of non-stop eating competition, we all lined up to taste test which Jana Diaz’s Special Brownies and Banana Bread they call made for the kids. Because it was special It made me think that my sister might have probably went to formal Culinary Schooling.

Like any other commercial meals found in many business establishments, homemade meals will always and be undoubtedly delicious (minus the controlled and scrimpy ingredients added) – so my to start with my sister Jana Diaz made this special coming from the pasta family and we called this a “Lasagna Night” I was uberly engrossed taking these pictures. Please forgive me.

July 13, 2008, Sunday, woke up around 11:30 a.m. took a bath, dressed and hurriedly commuted to a passenger jeep and went to Buhangin, where a fellow davaoblogger was having a 3-in-1 birthday party, (Red Rola, Judy Rola, etc. ) and a blessing of Red’s newly purchased “MSI Wind notebook”. As soon as I arrived nobody was home, I called him up through his mobile phone and he said it was at Pag-Asa Homes where his mother lived, ahhh, I wasn’t following instructions, I guess I need to clean my ears once in a while.. hehehe…

Arrived at red’s mother’s home and they were plenty of people, close friends, relatives, and office staffs from BEAM, I also saw dulcenegosyante, I think we’re the only 2 bloggers here, savored the food compliments of Multi Foods Davao who’s proprietor is Jennifer Longakit, contact number: 241-0324.

I made love to sashimi, smacked my lips to sushi, I also love the special sashimi sauce that Henry Tom made, a mix of Kikoman Sauce and Wasabi, slid my fingers to the ever delicious crunchy lechon skin (roasted pig), (my blood pressure wasn’t skyrocketing, thank God)

bday alma atenta

July 18, 2008, Friday, after office hours 5:00 p.m. it was raining then, attended a follow up birthday of a fellow colleague (Ma. Alma Atenta) a teaching staff of Manuel A. Roxas ES. We checked attendance; present were; Leah Castardo, Annabelle Catolin, Erlinda Bacalso, and yours truly iceman9. We had a short prayer before meals and sang a happy birthday song.

Without malice I digged in the food which I always like most. We had a grilled pork chop, kinilaw, patatim, grilled bangus in aluminum foil, and for our dessert ice cream.
